Choosing between the Rebellion or the Empire, players can jump into online multiplayer that features 40 player matches as well as challenges that are playable solo, split-screen, or online co-op. Multiplayer battles will be available on the well-known planets of Hoth, Endor, and Tatooine as well as the unexplored Sullust. Playable vehicles include speederbikes, snowspeeders, and AT-ATs on the ground. In the air, players can pilot X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and the Millenium Falcon. However, there are no space dogfights, air based vehicles are player controlled but don’t leave the planet’s atmosphere.
Player choice factors into the decision whether to be a hero and a villain with iconic characters such as Darth Vader and Boba Fett playable. Additionally, players can switch between first and third person gameplay.
The preorder bonus is access to the planet Jakku on December 1, 2015 which is one week early. The DLC releases free for all players on December 8, 2015. Jakku is a remote desert planet where the New Republic faced critical Imperial holdouts following the Rebel win in the Battle of Endor. Star Wars Battlefront shows the battle which occurs before the events of the upcoming movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Additionally, the Star Wars Battlefront Deluxe Edition for $69.99 packages digital extras with the base game that includes instant access for Han Solo’s Blaster, the Ion Detonator, and the MPL Ion Torpedo as well as the exclusive emotes Ion Shock and Victory.
Little is known about the game but with both the new Star Wars film and Battlefront game coming fall 2015 expectations are high. As modes and other specifics are announced hopefully disability related features are revealed as well.
