The Independence Day Special (in association with Ammu-Nation) update is now available for Grand Theft Auto Online

The update brings the Fourth of July to Los Santos with a variety of in-game items and game adjustments. The seasonal content will be available for a limited time until an unspecified date in mid-July 2014.

The in-game items include a variety of Independence Day themed additions from the Liberator monster truck and the Sovereign motorcycle to the latest in Ammu-Nation’s gun shop with an antique musket and a Firework Rocket Launcher. Seven new properties purposefully includes lawns well suited for launching fireworks. With 12 varieties of fireworks sporting different fuse lengths, players have all that’s needed for creating firework show bonanzas. Character can be imbued with patriotism with “Made in the U.S.A.” clothing and a backwards mullet.

Amidst the various game tuning updates is a new On Call Matchmaking function which allows players to continue playing in Freemode while waiting for the Job to start. Not waiting in a lobby for matchmaking is a great way to celebrate Independence Day.

Additionally, a celebratory 4-day Independence Day weekend is upcoming with details to be announced.

Accessibility Angle:

Continuing updates and support for a game benefits disabled gamers by continuing to tweak both the game itself and adding content for furthering different play styles adds to the game’s overall disability accessibility. See DAGERS’ Grand Theft Auto V review here
